Re: 40th Anniversary Death of Padre Pio August 2007
Dear Spiritual Children and Friends of Padre Pio,

The Lord give you His peace!

The fortieth anniversary of the passing of Padre Pio of Pietrelcina into eternal life will occur on September 23rd, 2008. It offers us an opportunity for more intense study, meditation, prayer and activities around the person and spirit of Padre Pio. This could be a twelve month period that offers us, as an Association of his Spiritual Children, occasions to go beyond the usual monthly activities. We could tap into our spiritual resources as Padre Pio Prayer Groups and celebrate ways, in the course of the year, to bring our individual groups and possibly other groups in our area or region,, to come together one or more times to grow in our Roman Catholic spirit as Spiritual Children of Padre Pio. These spiritual activities could also be extended by an open invitation to anyone not of the Association who might like to share our time of prayer, reflection and family spirit. If you have already begun planning something, or are considering it, please keep me informed.

Every Group is autonomous. I have no desire to impose anything that is not directly stated in the Statutes of our Association. We are, however, an Association of laity who seek to give deeper meaning to our lives in the spirit of Padre Pio of Pietrelcina. I firmly believe that the “proposal”, the “suggestion” I made above might allow us to experience a greater sense of unity throughout our vast nation and possibly encourage others to enter the ranks of Padre Pio’s Spiritual Children.

Please remember always, anything done in the name of the Church, especially external activities and those that may involve others parishes, groups, etc., must always be done in collaboration with the Spiritual Director of the Group and with the express permission of the competent Church authority (Pastor, Superior, Bishop, etc.).

May God bless you; Our Lady guide, guard, and protect you; and Padre Pio, our Spiritual Father and Founder, look over each one of you, his Spiritual Children, with loving care.

Peace and Blessings
