All Saints and All Souls in Purgatory

Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday
The quotes this month from Padre Pio’s letters to his Spiritual Daughters are taken from letters to:
Rachelina Russo - 1918 - December 11
Ventrella Sisters - 1916 - December 3 and December 7
1 This God of love wants to test his chosen ones like iron in the furnace. Do not doubt his predilection (for you). 2 He is always close to you. 3 He gives you all those comforts necessary for your fighting, winning and enriching yourself with merits for heaven.
4 Courage, do not be disheartened, because Jesus...is always with you. 5 Do not lose heart, but in your weakness, unite yourself more to Jesus who speaks to you... 6 I thank all those souls who belong to us in the spirit of Jesus, and in him, I wish them and you many beautiful things. 7 I never cease to implore infinite blessings from heaven for you all. 8 I pray the good God will transform you all in him. 9 We must place our desires and affections (on the Mount of Jesus’ glory) and not in creatures. 10 On the hill of Calvary, we have already been made worthy to follow the heavenly Master.
11 We have already been numbered among the blessed group of chosen souls. 12 (Fear) neither the weight of the cross we have to carry, the long journey to be made, nor the steep hill we must climb. 13 (Be) absolutely determined to serve and love divine goodness well. 14 Let us always be more steadfast with a strong hope. 15 Draw away from earthly affections, and ... aspire to the happiness prepared for us. 16 Banish all uneasiness and worry, because they are contrary to the free workings of the Holy Spirit. 17 Our Divine Master says that by our patience we will possess our souls.
18 Patience is more perfect when it is less mixed up with worries and disturbances. 19 Keep your eyes fixed on Him (Jesus) who guides you, and on the heavenly Homeland to which He wants to lead you. 20 Take courage and begin the work of your salvation on the path where God places you. 21 God is served only when he is served according to his will. 22 Imitate Jesus. 23 (Jesus) will come to relieve and console you, by instilling new courage in your soul. 24 Strong and generous souls do not grieve except for serious reasons.
25 I wish you the greatest happiness... which my heart presents all times to his divine Majesty 26 Long live Jesus who does not leave those who hope and confide in him without comfort. 27 May God preserve you always in his holy love. 28 (God’s) vigilant grace protects you very well. 29 The most beautiful Credo (‘I Believe’) is that pronounced in darkness, in times of sacrifice, when one must make a great effort to do so. 30 If the devil makes a din, he is still outside and not inside at all ... .Fear his peace and concordance with the human soul (not the noise he makes). May the Souls of the Faithful Departed and all the Holy Souls in Purgatory, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Month of the Poor Souls in Purgatory

Sunday

Father of mercy and compassion, we believe that those who have died in the Lord are blessed. As we pray for the souls of those who have gone before us, we earnestly ask You, let them rest from their labors here on earth, and remember the good works they accomplished through Your grace. With each kindness we offer today, help us recall that we too will be judged according to our good deeds, and the love we have for one another. Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

R O Mary, Mother and Queen of the Suffering Souls in Purgatory, pray for them and place our prayers together with yours, that through your almighty intercession, we too may assist them in their suffering.
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen.
May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Monday

Lord our God, Father, the Psalmist prayed in wonder and gratitude to You when he prayed: “You have been a home for us, from one generation to the next”. Hear us today as we pray for our loved ones who have died, and have always found a shelter in You. Be gracious to them still, as they await the fullness of Your promised home in the Kingdom where You live forever and ever. Amen.

Tuesday

Lord Jesus, our Good Shepherd, the souls of the just want for nothing in Your presence. It is You who have given them their heart’s desire, You who have guided them on Your pathways, and led them to Your eternal place of refreshment. As you have prepared a banquet for them, so now fill them with Your mercy and peace. May goodness and kindness follow them to Your dwelling place forever and ever. Amen.

Wednesday

Father most Gracious and Loving, today as we pray for the souls of the faithful departed, we remember the comforting words of Jesus: “Come, you blessed of my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world”. As You, Lord, so greatly desire the hearts and souls of those created in Your image and likeness, please now call them to Yourself, and welcome them into Your Kingdom, as they welcomed You here on earth in the poor, the naked, the hungry, the thirsty and the imprisoned. We make our prayer in the name of Christ our lord. Amen.

Thursday

Eternal Father, our hope and our consolation, look favorably on the souls of our deceased loved ones. As we pray today for them, and all the faithful departed, we ask that You grant the fullness of Your peace and joy to our beloved deceased who have finished the race and have kept the faith. May You give them the heavenly crown of victory, for they longed to see Your face. And one day may we all share their joy together in the Kingdom where You live forever and ever. Amen.

Friday

Most high, all powerful, all good God, Your humble servant, St. Francis of Assisi, when considering his own death, spoke of her as “Sister Death, from whom no one can escape”. In faith we believe that no one would wish to escape the good things that you have prepared for those who have loved You! So today we pray that Sister Death may embrace the souls of our loved ones whom You have called, and lead them to that new creation where you live forever and ever. Amen.

R

Saturday

All loving God, Father of Life, we praise You today for Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. In Him You have borne our griefs and sorrows; and by His wounds we are healed! As we seek to share in the joys of His Resurrection, and wait to welcome Him when He returns in glory, we ask You to reward those who have died with the fulfillment of Your promise. Gather us together from the four winds into Your Kingdom which You have prepared for us, where we shall live with You forever. Amen.

Daily Concluding Prayers

To Our Blessed Mother

Mary, loving Mother and Queen of Creation, we pray through your intercession for our brothers and sisters in Purgatory, your children saved in the blood of Christ, who still await the fullness of the gift that is assured them. You knew pain and grief in the death of your Son. Look on us, and upon all the souls who have gone before us, merciful Mother, with motherly compassion and love, Pray for us and them. Protect us in our journey, and intercede for us that we may always be faithful. Pray for the Souls in Purgatory that the Lord may lead them quickly home to enjoy forever eternal life with Jesus, the blessed fruit of your womb.

To Padre Pio

Padre Pio, friend of the Holy Souls and faithful companion of those who confided in your counsels and prayers, pray for us, that having been faithful to God’s Will in life we may come to Eternal Life with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen.

To the Most Blessed Trinity

Eternal Father, Son and Holy Spirit, through the intercession of Mary, Your daughter, mother and spouse, and our holy Mother, hear our prayers for the Souls in Purgatory. Grant them eternal light, happiness and peace. You live and reign forever and ever. Amen.
