The Most Reverend Most Reverend Monsignor, I am pleased to answer your letter No. 8994/85 of the 5th November 1985, with which your good self sent the project for the Statutes of the Prayer Groups of Padre Pio. These were edited by yourself after consulting the Congregation for the Clergy, the Council for the Laity and the Secretariat of the Italian Episcopal Conference.
As Secretary of State, I have not failed to examine with due attention the above mentioned text, submitting it again to the Congregation for the Clergy, who has sent to this office certain alterations in this regard.
I am anxious to inform your Reverence that the above said observations, as written on the attached sheet, should be inserted, in the final text, which, with the said attachments, has been approved.
In this form the Statutes may be considered valid as from the date of the International Convention of the Prayer Groups, to be held at San Giovanni Rotondo on the 4th May 1986.
It would seem opportune for this office to recommend that the offerings given to the Foundation Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza by the separate Groups should be noted and presented in the annual report to the Director General.
It should also be remembered that in the case of the Association ceasing to exist, should this same be in possession of a patrimony, it is the responsibility of the Cardinal Secretary of State to establish where it should be assigned, according to Can. 326 of the Code of Canon Law.
